If you're a fan of the British royal family then you'll be pleased by this latest tid bit of news: Pippa Middletion, the younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, has landed a new writing gig.

Middleton will write a monthly food column for Waitrose, an upscale supermarket favored by the British middle class, according to The Guardian. Called Pippa's Friday Night Feasts, the column will debut in the April issue of the retailer's magazine which will go on sale March 28.

Apparently unfazed by the mixed reception of her party planning book Celebrate, Middletion is excited about offering cooking and entertaining tips for the masses. The magazine, she said, has ''always been a source of inspiration to me, for its extensive spectrum of food and beautitul style.''

Of course, not everyone is thrilled about the news. Critics have questioned Middletion's cooking experience and wondered why the magazine did not hire a professional food writer instead.

But William Sitwwell, editor of Waitrose Kitchen, stands by the company's choice. ''Pippa will be an excellent contributor to the magazine, bringing with her a wealth of experience of entertaining, gained in part from working at her family's party business.''
