With just two weeks to go before the start of the 2012 Olympic games, officials in the city of London are making sure there will be enough food to go around. But just how much food will be needed to feed the 2,000 Olympic atheletes?

Olympic officials will need to serve 14 million meals daily across 40 locations, according to the London 2012 Food Vision. We've already seen how much Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps can eat and the massive amount of food required by Turkish Olympic athletes. What will have to be done?

The London 2012 Food Vision aims to serve as much local and sustanaible food as possible. Below is the breakdown of how much food will be needed at the Olympic Village:

  • 25,000 loaves of bread
  • 232 tons of potatoes
  • more than 82 tons of seafood
  • 31 tons of poultry
  • more than 100 tons of meat
  • 75,000 litres of milk
  • 19 tons of eggs
  • 21 tons of cheese
  • more than 330 tons of fruit and vegetables
