Single Woman Offers Date at Noma Pop-up in Japan - and She’ll Pay the Bill!

A 38-year-old woman in San Francisco is offering one lucky man the chance to dine with her at the Noma restaurant pop-up at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Japan - one of the toughest reservations in the history of pop-ups.

Stephanie Robesky, who runs the NerdGirl blog, is looking for a date to join her for the dinner at the end of January and says she will even cover the food and drinks bill.

Potential dates do have to tick a few boxes regarding their age, geographic location - they must live in the Bay area - their relationship status, the funding to pay for airfare and hotel and their ability to use a knife and fork.

Robesky writes on her site, “I have a dinner reservation for Noma Tokyo for my birthday in the last week of January. If you don’t know what Noma is then you are pretty much already excluded from the criteria that I am setting forth for this date…”

Robesk says that while in Tokyo she has also managed to snag herself a reservation at Jiro Ono’s world famous sushi restaurant - the lucky guy will also have the chance to join her for that meal but will be expected to pick up his own bill.

Anyone wanting to apply with some basic details, she wants to meet for coffee before the trip to check that you get along and after that you’re ready to go.
