We all try to be vigilant when paying by card at a restaurant, making sure we or the people serving us don’t accidentally add a couple of zeros onto the bill. Well, for one curry-loving customer in Scotland, the nightmare came true – in a big way.

The unnamed man was dining with two friends at Rajpoot Indian Restaurant in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, the Evening Express reports [not the meal pictured above]. When it came time to pay the bill, which was approximately $130, the man entered the total himself into the chip and pin machine. The payment initially didn’t go through, but after ringing the man’s bank, restaurant owner Abdul Wahid received a confirmation code and the payment was accepted.

It was only then that the error was spotted: the amount paid was £1,006,082.04 (around $1.3million).

“This has to be one of the most expensive meals there has ever been. I have never experienced anything like this. It was really, really shocking,” said Mr Wahid. Imagine how the diner felt.

The customer quickly rang his bank and the payment was cancelled. Whether the meal was worth it or how many lagers were consumed before the mistake was made is unclear.

Also, who is this mystery man with these kinds of available funds?
