Maple is way more than a regular restaurant delivery app, that’s because they actually have a kitchen staffed by 22 people that are working to cook an array of daily dishes offered through the app. Customers order one of the three lunch or dinner options they want, it’s cooked at the Maple kitchen and dispatched for delivery.
The company say a basic menu allows them to focus on speed and quality and by only serving the neighbourhoods where they have a kitchen, delivery times are kept low. They initially talked of ambitious 15 minutes delivery times but now say food should arrive within 30.
They have just one kitchen at the moment in Manhattan but plan to open kitchens across The States to increase their offerings. Chang has been involved in helping devise menus and systems of work to make sure the kitchens are running as efficiently as possible.
It’s an interesting model that goes up against a whole list of apps offering to deliver food direct to our tables. With a strong backing, great technology and the expertise of Chang behind the project we expect Maple to catch on quickly.
