American culinary icon  Julia Child believed in many things: the joy of eating, the pleasure cooking and making French food accesible to home cooks. One thing she didn't stand for was having her name used for commercial purposes.

That's the argument her family is using to sue Thermador Appliances for using Julia's name and image. Although her studio ovens were of the same brand, the cooking legend refused to endorse products, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Julia's family is suing Thermador for millions of dollars in damages and cuts from the profits of the ad campaign. Eater reports the company has already pulled some ads from its social media but, naturally, can't undo a print ad that ran in the Smithsonian Magazine.

Earlier this month, the world celebrated what would have been Julia's 100th birthday. Watch the musical tribute to America's French cooking pioneer and check out Google's homage to Julia.
