Chef Joël Robuchon has confirmed plans to open a new restaurant in New York telling Zagat that he is looking for a new venue on 47th Street and Fifth Avenue.

The French chef owns 17 restaurants spanning 8 countries and is sighted as having more Michelin starred venues than any other chef on the planet. He will open a new L'Atelier restaurant in the city after closing his restaurant inside the Four Seasons back in 2012.

The chef told Zagat: "New York is my favorite city in the world. I am very happy about the possibility of going back to New York as there is an incredible clientele in New York. A lot of great relationships were formed over there and we now see a great number of New Yorkers visiting our restaurants. It really is the capital of the world and I want to be there. We have still to sign on the dotted line for a new restaurant space which is currently in negotiation with the owner of the building."

Rocuchon also discussed some of his other projects with a new restaurants in Bangkok and Mumbai planned to open in 2014.
