Heston Blumenthal Hints at New Restaurant in Australia

Reports in The Daily Telegraph claim the British chef Heston Blumenthal has confirmed plans to open a new restaurant in Australia within the next three years and that the celebrity chef is even considering relocating to the country.

Blumenthal already runs three highly successful restaurants in the UK with The Fat Duck (3 Michelin stars),The Hinds Head (1 Michelin star) and Dinner in London which was recently awarded it's second Michelin star in the 2014 guide.

Speaking with the Australian newspaper, Blumenthal said he plans to open a new restaurant in either Melbourne or Sydney within the next three years.

He hinted that any new restaurant would not follow the lines of his infamous Fat Duck restaurant in Bray. Claiming that he is never going to open a new Fat Duck, the chef added: "I might move it. It is a labour of love and there should only be one Fat Duck."

It seems that if the chef is to open in Australia it will be with a similar format to his Dinner restaurant at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London which serves up classic and often forgotten British recipes, some of them dating back as the 13th century. He told the newspaper that the Dinner concept was always intended to spread internationally and that the laid back nature he had found in Australia suits his character.
