Rumor has it British chef Heston Blumenthal is planning on making a big career move by bringing his Michelin-starred restaurant brand to the United States.

Eater reports the rumor began when Guy Woodward, editor of the London-based Food and Travel magazine, tweeted the following: "Rumour is that Heston Blumenthal will open a restaurant in one of Mandarin Oriental's US hotels - maybe next year. My money's on New York." The rumors haven't been confirmed or denied, according to a Blumenthal rep who spoke to the website.

It  wouldn't be far fetched for the chef, who is also a cookboook author and television host, to open a restaurant at a Mandarian Oriental hotel in the U.S. Afterall, his Michelin-starred restaurant Dinner by Heston is located in the Mandarin Oriental in London.

Where could Blumenthal be headed? There is speculation the chef could open his new restaurant in Washington, DC, Las Vegas or New York, all of which are home to a Mandarin Oriental hotel.

Blumethal also owns two other restaurants: the Hinds Head pub and The Fat Duck. Not only are all of his restaurants Michelin starred, the chef also has the prestigue of having two of his restaurants on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list. Dinner by Heston and The Fat Duck rank 9th and 13th on the list, respectively.

The chef is known for his love of molecular gastronomy and odd science experiments, like using tampons as palate cleansers. His notable baking skills were put to good use when he was tapped to make dessert for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee earlier this year.

Stay tuned for more details as the story develops. In the meantime, tell us in the comments below where you think Blumenthal will open his new restaurant.
