Guangzhou: The Newest Michelin Guide in The World

The first ever Michelin guide to Guangzhou in China has been released with the area gaining eight one-star restaurants.

“This very first Guangzhou selection highlights a great local gastronomic interest. In this city, the culinary scene reflects great talent in the kitchen, wonderful ingredients and a mastery of different flavors, explained Michelin's International Director Michael Ellis. “In summary, Guangzhou has a wealth of astonishing restaurants with a strong and historical Cantonese background.”

The guide, which is the ninth Michelin guide launched in China, also featured 20 restaurants with a Bib Gourmand: these are restaurants that Michelin deem to serve high quality food at affordable prices.

There were no three or two-star restaurants featured in the guide.

Below is a list of all the restaurants to make it into the 2019 Michelin guide for Guangzhou.

Wasn't the Guangzhou Guide released in June 2018? Also the quote is from Michael Ellis, who no longer is in charge at Michelin? What up, FDL??
