A theatre in Greece is now accepting food as entry payment to see plays. The Theatre of Northern Greece started the performances on Friday and opened to people ready and waiting with flour, sugar and pasta - all happy to trade food in return to watch the Irish play, Chatroom, by Enda Walsh.

The theatre will run perfromances throughout May with all the food they receive being donated to charities for children.

Greece is still recovering from large debt problems after the countries loan repayments got out of hand. The theatre say what they are doing is a way to show direct democracy in action. Certainly some food for thought from more than one angle with this one.
