After a weekend full of adventure, the G9 gastro-summit has come to a close in Tokyo. The event gathered some of the world's greatest chefs, from Ferran Adria to Dan Barber, who discussed the training of future chefs.

The 2012 World Summit of Gastronomy, an event led by the Basque Culinary Center, gave chef ambassadors like Gastón Acurio, Massimo Bottura and Alex Atala the opportunity to meet with author Harold McGee and chefs Joan Roca, Sven Elverfeld and Yukkio Hattori. By the end of the gathering, the chefs announced plans to publish a book on the history of modern gastronomy by 2015, according to Eater.

''Culinary training has drastically improved (in Spain) in the past 25 years...we are at forefront of creativity,'' Joan Roca told Spanish news agency EFE during an interview. Roca, whose restaurant El Celler de Can Roca ranks second on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, complimented the other chef ambassadors saying ''they are leaders in their own territory,'' which provides an excellent opportunity for a solid discussion of their craft.

The G9 chefs also visited the site of last year's tsumani and earthquake. They were expected to come up with a manifesto for chefs of the future, much like they did in Lima last year. So stay tuned for more news on this year's G9 summit...
