The companies working on the renovations, Snøhetta, Envelope A+D and Harrison & Koellner, LLC, have released some images of what the French Laundry’s new kitchen and gardens will look like when the work is complete.
The new kitchen is impressive with the idea meant to have the same feel as a tablecloth being laid. Co.Design report that the curved design of the roof also has a practical application, improving acoustics and allowing people to hear much better.
The iconic blue door, synonymous of Keller’s French Laundry and Per Se restaurant in New York, will be staying put, in fact, it will be highlighted even more as the new design of the courtyard actually frames the door for all to see.
The newly renovated French Laundry is expected to open in November while the team are currently operated with a temporary kitchen that’s been created using shipping containers.
