Two months ago Ferran Adrià launched the Hacking BulliPedia contest in an effort to recruit academic professionals and technology-driven individuals to help his massive gastro-encyclopedia get off the ground.

Instead of three finalists, Adrià and the Hacking BulliPedia committee have chosen four winning teams who will spend three months in Barcelona working with the chef and other professionals building the framework for the BulliPedia, which is expected to debut in 2016.

The judges received entries from chefs, data visualization experts, artists, scientists, designers and academics from all over the world. From these four finalists,  two members from each team will be chosen to compete in a final round.

The winning proposals include ideas for digital recipe sharing, reimagining cooking as a programming language and employing the use of tools like the Scentee, which was developed to transmit taste and smell information through cell phones.
