Expo Milano 2015 - Less Than 24 Hours to Go

Gelato festivals, James Beard restaurants, Pavilions serving food from all over the world and some of the biggest Italian stars on the planet. Expo Milano 2015 is less than 24 hours from opening and with that in mind here’s a look at exactly what you’ll be able to see at the Expo in May.

JBF in Milan
From May 8th the James Beard Foundation's restaurant at the Seven Stars Galleria Hotel will open its doors for a series of dinners from some of America’s best chefs.

Located in one of the most iconic locations of Milan the restaurants promises a May line up including Mark Ladner and Brooks Headley from Del Posto in New York, Barabra Lynch from No.9 and Daniel Humm from Eleven Madison Park in New York.

Cool Down
With the sun shining down on the city it’s sure to get hot during the Expo. A problem easily fixed with a visit to the Gelato Festival which will offer visitors to Milan the chance to sample delights from some of the best Gelato makers in Italy.

Olive oil, roe and tomato is just one of the unique flavours on offer with many of the Gelato flavours insured by the ‘culinary traditions of Italy’. The Gelato Festival will be in Milan from May 28th to June 7th and from September 3rd to 13th.

The Opening
Milan will welcome thousands of local and international guests on Friday for a performance from some of Italy’s top musicians. The party will go into the night and at 10am the next day the world will focus on the city when, at 10am, the doors for the Expo site finally opens.

There will be over 150 different restaurants, cafes, bars and eateries of every kind on site. Expect street food galore from all over the world with groups like the BBQ Hooligans from America and Ape Pizza - a travelling truck that will offer some authentic Neapolitan street food dishes.

Identita Expo, sponsored by S.Pellegrino, will offer a restaurant operated by a whole list of different chefs with Massimo Bottura opening the first day on May 1st.  Alongside local Italians, chefs from all over the world will represent their own countries with dishes served inside Pavilions with the likes of Rodolfo Guzman from Chile and Jorge Vallejo from Mexico in the city to cook up their expertise.

The stage is almost set, the cutlery polished and plates washed. Just the guests to arrive and the party will begin.
