The new restaurant will be called Aaharn and will open in September at Hong Kong's Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts, reports the South China Morning Post, with the aim of offering the best Thai food in Hong Kong.
Thompson had run Nahm since the turn of the Millenium, first in London and then in Bangkok since 2012. He departed in April, having won the restaurant a Michelin star in the inaugural Michelin Guide to Bangkok, to pursue new opportunities through Aylmer Aaharn, the Thai food group he co-founded in 2014. He also has restaurants in Melbourne, Perth, Singapore and Sydney through his Long Chim group.
Hong Kong will also welcome a new restaurant from Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez – Ichu Peru, a 150+ cover bistro-style eatery serving Peruvian comfort food is slated to open in July.
