Who’s ever worked for a head chef like this?

In a fun sketch titled “Things Never Said by a Head Chef” Australian comedian Troy Kinne pokes fun at the head chef stereotype by turning typical chefs sayings firmly on their head. Kinne’s chef is a shining example of amiable, measured calm.

Choice couplets directed at his brigade include “You don’t have to call me chef every time, that’s a bit official, ”“Watch the language” and “That’s my knife, but you can use it.” How many times have you ever heard these phrases in a kitchen?

Food critics and complaining customers are no problem for this chef, neither, seemingly, is presentation of particular importance: “Who cares what it looks like, it’s not a sculpture competition, send it out.”

Eric Ripert recently called for calm in the kitchen and an end to the tyranny of the shouty chef – our readers also shared their thoughts on the issue – but this might be taking it a little too far the other way we suspect.

Who’s ever worked for a head chef like this? Probably no one ever.
