All of the chefs profiled were nominated by their peers, culinary professions or food enthusiasts. Every chef received peer reviews - a process that required more than 50,000 phone calls and over 5,000 one-on-one interviews with chefs.
Critics have called it ''exciting and refreshing'' and have deemed it the ''standard bearer of culinary peer review for years to come.'' So far, the 375-page book isn't on Amazon but can be preordered on the Best Chefs of America website. It retails for $75.
