He's made a career of feasting on strange foods but Andrew Zimmern sure knows a thing or two about the impact of culture on food. The host of the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods put all of his travel experience to good use while giving a lecture at George Washington University last week.

Zimmern's lecture was part of the ongoing class taught by Washington DC-based chef José Andrés. He spoke about the deep impact tribes in Tanzania, Botswana and Namibia have had on his life. Whether it was hunting for dinner that evening, eating bugs or participating in rituals, Zimmern says these ''extreme'' experiences have been life changing.

''I've become a better husband, father and friend, and employer and employee by traveling and spending time with people like these,'' Zimemern tells students.

Check out his fascinating talk below and get ready to feel inspired to have your own 'bizarre' adventure. Zimmern's part begins at the 42 mintue mark. He's preceded by GWU professor Clay Warren who talks about food and persuasion.
