Fans of Chez Panisee can soon breathe a sigh of relief. Alice Waters' legendary restaurant in Berkeley will reopen on June 21st, just three months after being damaged by a fire.

Initially, Waters expected the restaurant to open just a few weeks after the March 8 fire. The restaurant was indefinitely closed after the chef was informed Chez Panisse needed major electrical and plumbing work.

Waters hired artisan builder Kip Mesirow to help rebuild the restaurant's facade and wooden interior. Mesirow was the original builder of Chez Panisse and the Los Angeles Times reports he has brought back the restaurant's signature style of ''cozy enclosed porches, the copper lanterns, and the Japanese and Craftsman-style details.''

Chez Panisse will celebrate its grand re-opening with a special dinner to raise funds for Waters' Edible School Yard project. The cost will be $1,000 for dining upstairs at the café and $2,500 for the downstairs restaurant. Just one seating will take place that evening.
