3D Food Printers Available This Year

The first range of commercially available 3D food printers have now launched offering people the chance to experiment with food printing within the kitchen.

The machines, called ChefJet 3D printer and the ChefJet Pro 3D printer, can print a range of edible patterns and prints from a digital cookbook and can print in a range of flavors including chocolate, vanilla, mint, sour apple, cherry and watermelon.

The company behind the product say they want leading pastry chefs, restaurateurs and event planners help experiment with 3D printing food technology in the kitchen

The standard machine prints in monochrome and costs around $5,000, the pro version costs $10,000 but is larger in size and can print in full color. Both machines are expected to be available in the second half of 2014.
