It's been a long time coming but Quique Dacosta and Eneko Atxa finally received three Michelin stars. The chefs, who represent Quique Dacosta and Azurmendi restaurants, were awarded yesterday at a ceremony at the Hotel Ritz in Madrid.

That brings the total of three Michelin starred restaurants in Spain to seven. Dacosta and Atxa join the ranks of Juan Mari Arzaki and Elena Arzak from restaurant Arzak; The Roca Brothers from El Celler de Can Roca; Pedro Subijana from Akelarre ; Martín Berasategui's eponymous restaurant; and Carme Ruscalleda from Sant Pau.

The Spain & Portugal Michelin Guide 2013 also awarded two stars to Enoteca by Paco Pérez and Moments by Raül Balam and Carme Ruscalleda. Now, there are 17 restaurants with two Michelin stars and 121 single-starred restaurants.

Here's the list of restaurants to be on the lookout for their first star in the 2014 Michelin Guide: Tapies in Lleida, Tierra in Toledo, Hospedería El Batán in Teruel, Kaymus in Valencia and Cal Paradís in Castellón.
