Europe comes out on top in the TripAdvisor list of the world’s best restaurants. Spain, France, UK and Italy all have three entries to the world’s 20 top restaurants while New York has two. Thailand, Peru, Mexico also have one each in the Michelin star heavy listing that is compiled from users’ reviews of their dining experiences. Au Crocodile in Strasbourg holds top spot, while Martin Berasategui and El Celler de Can Roca in Spain make up the top three.

1. AU CROCODILE, STRASBOURG, FRANCE

“The revival of a 'temple of gastronomy' under the culinary leadership of a young chef with a rare talent.”

This Strasburg restaurant housed in a building dating back to 1659, Au Crocodile does a great line in French classics including foie gras, lobster and frogs’ legs. Once upon a time the restaurant held three stars under chef Emile Jung, but it now holds just one under chef Franck Pelux.

At @trb_cn Hutong, starters are called preludes. Things won't get any more haute French cuisine in China than at this Beijing gastronomic restaurant. From their 'Marine & Marvellous' selection, I tried the sea urchin. Five grammes of Baeri caviar are optional. This dish made with rice, avocado and seaweed was so marvellous I could have it for lunch, dinner and breakfast! @michelinguide hasn't discovered China yet. Yesterday, @tripadvisor contributers elected TRB Hutong the best restaurant in Asia. You may want to follow TRB. And me. I might know where I'm going. 😃 #seaurchin #starter #prelude #trb #trbhutongbeijing is a #beijing #topquality #frenchcuisine #beijingfood #star #trbhutong #chefsofinstagram #tripadvisor #gastronomy minus the official #michelin #michelinstars #tasteofbeijing #amazingdestinationsbelgium

This family-run restaurant in Chang Mai hits the right notes between casual and formal, elegant and easy, warm and luxurious. Consistently at the top of the Thai tree when it comes to restaurants.
