Packing for a picnic doesn't have to be stressful, as long as you've got the right picnic foods to take along. Here are five recipes that will make dining in the great outdoors that much more enjoyable.

When it comes to appetizers, be sure to add some potato cakes with slivered almonds to your picnic basket. This dish is delicious served cold or at room temperature.

Bring along a baguette so you can slather on this exquisite legume and goose live paté. It pairs well with mini quiches with peas and ham, which can be made ahead of time.

For a heartier dish, consider making a glass noodle salad (pictured above). This salad is packed with vegetables and is infused with Asian seasonings. For dessert, bring along a sweet surprise: red velvet whoopie pies.

Accompany these picnic foods with wine or craft beer and you'll be all set. For the ultimate picnic, don't forget to the golden rule of food safety: keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot.
