To peel or not to peel? That is the burning question when it comes to juicing or making smoothies.

Some fruits or veggies are easy to figure out. Berries? Just toss them in. Bananas? Peel and go. But what about oranges? Should you peel them before running them through the juicer? What about hearty foods like beans or nuts? How should they be prepped?

ALMONDS

As with all nuts, almonds should be removed from their shell. They may be tossed into smoothies as is or soaked overnight if juicing. Try this easy recipe for almond milk.

Using canned beans? Just give them a good rinse before tossing into a smoothie. If dried, they should be soaked overnight. This goes for all beans.
