FIRST STEP: SLICE IT LENGTHWISE
Wash and dry the avocado and place it on a cutting board. Hold it firmly with one hand while you slice it lengthwise through its center with a sharp knife. A pairing knife works well for this because it will give you more control than a big knife. Once you've cut the avocado, twist the two halves so they separate.
SECOND STEP: REMOVE THE PIT
The safest way to to remove an avocado pit is to use a pairing knife or small spoon to cut around the pit to loosen it. It should come off easily. If not, give it another nudge by inserting the spoon or knife a bit deeper.

Cutting an avocado into slices is super easy. Just peel the avocado by lifting the skin off, set it face down on the cutting board and slice away.

For this technique, it's best to keep the skin on the avocado. You'll score the inside into a cubes, making sure the knife doesn't pierce the skin. Then run a spoon along the skin to release the cubes.
