'Game of Thrones' Inspired Dinners: Tips And Recipes For A Fantasy Meal

With all its food fan fare, you'd think Game of Thrones was all about the pleasures of the stomach instead of the bloody battle between good and evil in a fictional Medieval land. The show, inspired by the novels of George R. R. Martin, has become so popular that fans fans are coming up with ways of paying homage to their favorite foods via the kitchen.

Aside from inspiring cookbooks, and even beer labels, there are blogs dedicated to all things related to Game of Thrones food. Obsessed fans like the creatively-named Greasy Sae from Fictional Food.com has come up with a hit list of 75 dishes to try from the show. Dishes on the hit list include pigeon pie and snails in honey and garlic.

In Sydney, chef Grant King (in the picture at the top of the page) at Gastro Park restaurant recently hosted a Game of Thrones themed dinner. Grant and his staff dressed in a black capes with fur collars and served food like dragon's eggs, crushed skull soup and roasted pig heads in a backdrop of swords and iron wrought candelabras.

They say imitation is the best form of flattery. Clearly, fans of Game of Thrones take the old adage to a whole new level.
