Tarte Normande: Make This Decadent French Apple Tart Tonight

If you love apple pie then you'll fall head over heels for this French apple tart recipe. There are many different types of French apple tarts (tarte tatin, anyone?) but this recipe hails from the Normandy, a region famous for its apples and dairy farms.

That means means this French apple tart is infused with cream, a touch of Calvados and ground almonds for the ultimate dessert. Are you hungry yet?

Let's start cooking! To prepare this apple tart, you will need:

1 shortcrust pie dough
5 large apples
2 eggs
100 g (1/2 cup) caster sugar
100 g (1/2 cup) ground almonds
100 g (1/2 cup) thick cream
4 cl (1 1/2 tbsp) of Calvados
1 handful of slivered almonds

Here are the steps to make this French apple tart:

- Preheat the oven to 220 ° C (425F)
- Start by peeling the apples and cut into thick strips
- Spread the dough in a pie plate covered with parchment paper and prick it with a fork
- Arrange the apple slices in a circle by overlapping them
- Beat eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl
- Add almond powder, crème fraîche and Calvados
- Pour mixture over the apples and sprinkle with slivered almonds
- Bake for 25 minutes

This tarte normande can be enjoyed both warm and cold.
