The kitchen is it’s own world with its very own language, tools and roles. Stepping into a kitchen for the first time can be daunting when trying to understand all the terminology from the outside is hard enough.
That’s why we’re highlighting these two infographics that help people understand some of the nuances of the kitchen world.
The first up is a guide from Fixed that explains some basic terminology used in kitchens, from the different chops and what they mean to a useful breakdown on the differences between things like stewing and braising.
This is followed by another useful infographic from Chef Help that explains the family tree of a kitchen with a breakdown of exactly what each member of a kitchen team is expected to do, starting at executive chef right down to commis chef.
