Defrost a Steak in 5 Mins Without Electricity

Waiting for a nice chunk of steak to defrost can be a real pain, especially if you’ve got a craving for meat that needs to be filled. If you’ve ever sat and waiting for a piece of steak to defrost from the freezer you know it can easily take a couple of hours before it’s ready, you can try speed this up by using the microwave like a DJ trying to keep a record in time but most attempts will equal you actually cooking the meat you’re trying to gently defrost.

Step up to the plate CTi, a Taiwanese cable channel that claims to have discovered a way to defrost a 1cm thick piece of steal in under five minutes without the need for any electricity.

How? The process is actually quite simple. All users have to do is place the steak on a metal pan that’s been turned over, place a second pan on top of that and fill the top pan with water. The increased pressure from the water and something called ambient heat, which is conducted very well by metal, work to defrost the meat without any electricity needed.

Watch the video below to see the trick being used. The intense manga style text and commentary is all in Chinese but the trick is pretty self explanatory.
