Seeing as we're in the last throws of summer, and it's the weekend, we thought of some decadent breakfast ideas which combine summer fruit and berries with melt in your mouth breakfast classics.
Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are all soft summer fruits that not only add attractive colour to the breakfast table, but can also help balance out richer breakfasts, like eggy bread. Plus, there's the side benefit that we can feel a little less guilty about a stack of pancakes if we get a fruity bonus, but who's watching!
We have collated some of our favourite breakfast recipes including French toast, waffles, pancakes and oatmeal which are all delicious in their own right, but benefit from a generous addition of mixed summer berries.
If you're already thinking about your Sunday breakfast, try one of our breakfast ideas, they come with berries on top.
French toast, or eggy bread, made with a slabs of thick white bread, coated in egg, sugar, milk and apple juice, salt and fried off until crispy and soft in the middle is the stuff dreams are made of. Add some fresh berries and a dusting of icing sugar and it's one appealing breakfast.
Light fluffy pancakes, this recipe calls for plum jam, but they come up just as nicely with strawberry and raspberry jam, and fresh berries to decorate.
Waffles need little introduction, hot and crunchy with lashing of maple syrup they look even better with some vibrant fresh berries on top.
If you're going for the healthy option, this is the one to choose. Cooked oatmeal looks ultra appealing topped off with vibrant summer fruits which also add some natural sweetness.
