Wine collections are moving out of the cellar and into living areas with the wine wall, which provides perfect wine storage conditions and is also a beautiful piece of furniture, designed for those who like to drink their wines rather than let them gather dust.

The work of Smallbone, a bespoke cabinet–maker based in the market town of Devizes in Wiltshire, England, the temperature and humidity controlled wine wall has almond gold–plated racks, a leather, metal or timber veneered back panel that can even be wallpapered, a full lighting system to shroud your bottles in dusky ambience and tinted frameless glass to protect against UV damage.

Smallbone Creative Director Andrew Hays , speaking to The Telegraph said: “There’s a massive surge in people wanting to display their wines. I see this as a transitional area, perhaps near the dining area, where it might be stored once it’s been brought out of the cellar, to create ambience but also for convenience.”

The only caveat is prices start at £45,000 (around $60,000). But just think how much better it would look in the dining area than that old fish tank.
