Among the most interesting photographic projects curated by Silvia Badalotti are the enticing images created for the book, Il cioccolataio. Mestiere d’arte (The Chocolate Maker’s Book) by one of Fine Dining Lovers' contributors, Patrizia Sanvitale.
The volume recounts the long history of chocolate-making, a craft that dates back to the Aztec era: a sort of alchemy that transforms the mythical “food of the Gods” into a universally, eternally beloved delicacy. Awarded with the Eurochocolate Award in Perugia in 2005 for the best chocolate-themed publication, the book spans the history of chocolate making – from training schools, multi-national companies and websites, to legislation and literature, from cinema to art, and of course, includes some of the most memorable and timeless recipes.
«From the imagery standpoint, it was a real challenge,» explains Silvia Badalotti. «I had to create a photographic story of chocolate without ever showing chocolate in the way we’ve all seen it.» The award-winning result? Original shots that will make your mouth water.
