Tea for two never looked so elegant with this small electric kettle from Royal College of Art graduate Keren Hu.

The Teawith, so called because it conveniently has a volume of 550ml, perfect for two cups of tea (or coffee), is a small electric kettle made of die-cast aluminium. Rather than a traditional kitchen appliance the cordless kettle is designed for co-habiting and co-working spaces, “to service a domestic landscape that has evolved dramatically since home appliances were first conceived over 100 years ago,” says Hu.

It has a narrow spout, giving greater control of water flow, and sits on a square base, and is activated by pressing the handle down. It is quick to boil due to the relatively small volume of liquid meaning you and your guest have no time for procrastination when it comes to the important business of choosing which biscuit to dunk in your brew

Following a successful spell on JD Finance, a Chinese crowdfunding website, the Teawith is now going into production. Sounds like Mr Hu should probably put his feet up and celebrate a job well done with a nice cuppa.

This is the ultimate guide to making the perfect cup of tea
