Two New Books That Make Dinner and Drinks Simple this Fall

If you're from the school of thought that less is more, there are two new appealing books out this fall that will uncomplicate life with beautiful simplicity.  Whether you're looking for easy dinner inspiration or a fuss free negroni both books boast minimal ingredients and recipe steps.

First up is "Simple: The Easiest Cookbook in the World" from the chef, author and photographer Jean-Francois Mallet whose extensive culinary training, including École Ferrandi in Paris, helped him realise that he just liked simple food that tastes good.

Following ten years research and work, his first iconic simple cookbook was published in France in 2015 where it became an overnight success.

“My goal was a book that would be practical and useful, one that would end up stained and spattered on the kitchen counter instead of in a pile on a coffee table” he told The Wall Street Journal.

And that's just what he achieved. The sercret is the absolute simplicity where 200 recipes from around the globe are detailed in clear photographs, with each recipe having less than four steps and six ingredients.

From Greek stuffed eggplant, and Thai basil beef sauté to Pistachio and Cherry Cookies this might just be the book to tempt us away from eating out and keeping it easy at home instead.

And with all that time you've saved in the kitchen on your minimal dinner recipes you could always spend more time behind the bar, applying the same minimalistic philosophy to your mixology.

Thanks to Kara Newman the spirits editor at Wine Enthusiast magazine we can have access to 50 Effortless Cocktail recipes.

We're talking cocktails easy enough to make, but still sophisticated enough to appeal to the experienced cocktail drinker, who doesn't have time to mess around.

From the Negroni to 50:50 martini, it's about finding the balance and the simple magic - of when it just works.

And they don't get much simpler than this - all recipes ask for five main ingredients or less and all of those ingredients, not including garnishes and bitters, are in matching measurements. Easy.
