PETA's Picks: Vegan Diet Books for Bikini Season

A vegan diet is the best way of trimming off extra pounds just in time for the summer season. At least that's what is being advocated by PETA, the association of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA advocates against animal cruelty and advertises eating vegan as the best diet for clear skin and a healthy body.

PETA has given its seal of approval to six plant-based diet books that can help you get fit faster. At the very least, these cookbooks will help you enjoy vegetables in a whole new light.

PETA's vegan diet book picks:

21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart -Written by Dr. Neal D. Barnard, this book aims to lower your cholesterol and help you trim down by eating plenty of vegetables and grains.

Skinny Bitch - This New York Times Bestseller written by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin  is a tough-love guide on how to drop pounds eating fruits, veteables and lots of whole grains.

The Kind Diet - Written by Hollywood actress Alicia Silverstone, the book details her journey into veganism with lots of anecdotes and recipes to help you get started on your vegan diet.

The Lean - Author Kathy Freston was another meat lover who found balance in a vegan diet. In her book, she combines vegan recipes with exercise advice to get you leaner.

By Any Greens Necessary - A book written by one African-American woman to another. Author Tracye Lynn McQuirter wants African-American woman to keep their curves but transtion to healthier vegan eating. It's a book that can benefit all women.

Crazy Sexy Diet - Author Kris Carr wants women to stop the self-loathing and start loving their bodies and living to the max. The book is full of fitness tips, recipes and a 21-day cleanse guide.
