Is edible glitter one of the worst food trends of 2018?
It seems like there’s no escaping the glittery food trend, even at the Christmas dinner table. A UK company has started selling glitter gravy, just in time for the holidays so you can add some extra sparkle to your Christmas turkey.
Blame the unicorn trend of 2017 or simply social media obsessed Millennials. This year began with mermaid lattes, then came the glitter cappuccinos, and it wasn’t too long before we started seeing glitter beer and glitter pizza, until it gave birth to its improved luxe version which we saw in the form of gold chicken wings and gold leaf Thanksgiving turkey.
It may just seem natural then that glitter found its way into the humble gravy to invade the sacred Christmas dinner. The instant gravy sachets by Popaball are prepared simply by adding water and stirring until smooth. Pour the festive gravy over your meat and veggies and see it sparkle.
We doubt it will taste as good as some of our favourite Michelin chef recipes (like Gordon Ramsay’s perfect gravy) but glitter gravy will sure get you some extra likes on your Instagram profile.
