Food in Vogue: A Compilation of Striking Food Images

Iconic fashion and lifestyle magazine, Vogue, has produced a stunning new hardback book dedicated to food photography, art and essays entitled, Food in Vogue.

Published by AbramsBooks ($75), just in time for Christmas, Food in Vogue, looks like the complete gift for the foodie with a love of fashion deserving of pride of place on the coffee table come the new year.

Collating an impressive 200 images throughout decades of the magazine, the historic collection charts the history of fashion and trends and through the anthropological lens of food.

The prolific 125-year-old magazine manages to retain its characteristic element of surprise, and rather than going for the classic grouping or chronology it sees itself "as a kind of wonderfully inventive meal, with something unexpected at every turn."

The revolutionary food photography from Raymond Meier, James Wojcik, Tim Walker, and Helmut Newton includes favourites like the soft toy rabbit climbing into the stew pot alongside defining chef interviews and world class food writing.

Anyone confused about why a fashion magazine has food at their heart just needs to ask Anna Wintour: “It’s part of our world. It’s part of our lives. It never occurred to me not to include it.”
