Originally released in Mexico in 2012, written by Déborah Holtz and Juan Carlos Mena, we have got some making up to do with this first English version, due to be released by Phaidon at the end of September.

With 100 recipes from fillings and tortillas to salsas and sauces, Tacopedia has got it all covered to ensure that you are armed with the necessary skills to create your own perfect tacos.

Far from being just a cook book, taco's vibrant culture and traditions are captured around Mexico and bought to life in 250 photographs along with interviews, stories, illustrations, graphics and maps.

Mexican food has become increasingly popular with acclaimed chefs sitting up and taking notice. Tacopedia even includes a foreword by the top Danish chef, Rene Redzepi where his love of Mexican food is evident.

Redzepi remembers his first bite of an authentic taco in Mexico, “I sunk my teeth in. Immediately I felt the tenderness, the rich umami character of the meat. And the tortilla! It was sweet and smoky, with a gentle chew to it, like a good sourdough bread. Suddenly the spice from the habaneros hit me, kept in check by the sweet, succulent pineapple."

Mouth watering stuff. If you can't wait to get started on your Tacos, Tacopedia can be pre-ordered through the publisher Phaidon. Click here.
