The Restaurant That Cooks with Volcano Heat

There's an old saying: 'cooking off the land' but what aboit cooking with the land. The El Diablo restaurant in Lanzarote uses the heat from volcanic rock to cook BBQ meat and fish for their guests.

The restaurant in the Timanfaya National Park off the coast of Spain has been operated by the same family since 1970. By layering volcanic basalt rock to make the grill the designers of this unique oven managed to build something which can withstand the 450 to 500 degrees Celsius the volcano generates near the top.

If you're brave enough a visit to the restaurant can also include a tour of the volcano below, if you really want to feel the heat that is.
