A Gourmet Tour of Romantic Movie Restaurants

From Notting Hill to Lost in Translation, a gourmet tour of the restaurants that hosted some of the most romantic cinema scenes.

Like in real life, some of the most romantic movie moments in a love story, happen in restaurants. And sometimes, with a breathtaking view. Like that at the bar-lounge at the New York Bar & Grill in the Tokyo Hyatt Hotel where Scarlett Johansson met Bill Murray in Lost in Translation. It’s worth having a drink on the 52nd floor at least once in your life.

Or else try a plate of escargot like Julia Roberts did in Pretty Woman in the ‘20s-atmosphere of Cicada, in Los Angeles. Is London more your style? In another Julia Roberts love story, Notting Hill, you can eat a chic Japanese dinner in the same restaurant, Nobu, as she did with Hugh Grant.

The Manhattan café and bakery Serendipity 3, inspired the romantic movie Serendipity, and also has some of the most delicious chocolate desserts in all of Manhattan, as well as the most expensive gelato in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records.

Since love stories and sweets often go hand in hand, don’t miss a stop at Naidre’s in Brooklyn, which was featured in the movie Moonstruck. Sadly, the famed Rick’s Café from one of the best love stories of all time, Casablanca, never actually existed. It was belt as a film set in movie studio. That being sad, many bars now carry that name all around the world, in honour of the great passion between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
