Forget dinner and dance this year and instead think dinner and dive!
Intrepid diners are being offered a once in a lifetime chance to dive the Titanic wreck followed by a luxury 10-course champagne dinner, re-creating the final dinner served to guests aboard the Titanic, in an excursion due to take place July 2019.
The unusual travel package is being organised by luxury touring company Cookson Adventures in collaboration with underwater research firm Oceangate.
Nine thrill-seeking foodies will be given the chance to take part in a manned dive in a submersible to the wreck's location in the Atlantic south of Newfoundland. Joining researchers and scientists they'll help navigate to the wreck more than 3,700 metres underwater and get to see the Titanic’s deck, bridge, radio room and famous first class staircase.
Back on dry land chefs will create an iconic 10-course dinner will which will be based on the vessel’s original menu served in the first class deck on 14 April 1912, the night before the luxury liner hit an iceberg and sunk with over 1500 people losing their lives at sea.

The menu is expected to include luxury foods with starters like oysters, Consommé Olga and cream of barley or salmon, mousseline sauce and cucumber, main courses like filet mignons Lili, Calvados-glazed roast duck with apple sauce, peaches in Chartreuse jelly and chocolate eclairs with French vanilla cream and Waldorf pudding.
Naturally, the dinner will be paired with vintage wines, including a bottle of 1907 Heidsieck Gout Champagne, salvaged from the wreck of Swedish schooner sunk by a German submarine in 1916.
"The Titanic was the embodiment of luxury when it set sail in 1912, and the ability to recreate the masterpiece that was the evening meal, with paired vintage wines appropriate to this feast is an incredible culinary feat," said Thomas Delande, spokesperson for Melchior Club by Wine Source.
Cookson has not yet revealed the cost of the trip, however, initial guestimates expect it to be anywhere in excess of $100,000.
