The festivities have begun in the scenic Swiss canton of Ticino. Tonight, March 19th, one of two gala dinners will take place in anticipation of the S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino 2014, a monthlong culinary extravaganza where stellar chefs showcase their best dishes. This evening's gala dinner will be held at the Lausanne Palace & Spa as an unofficial kick off to the splendid S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino that begins on April 6th and extends until May 11th. Among the special guests in attendance will be Paolo Basso, the Swiss sommelier who was crowned Best Sommelier in the World last year.
Participating chefs who will prepare tonight's festive dinner include Dario Ranza, Antonio Fallini, Othmar Schlegel, Frank Oerthle, Andrea Bertarini, René Nagy, Lorenzo Albrici, Egidio Iadonisi, Alessandro Fumagalli and Domenico Ruberto. A previous gala dinner was held in Zurich on March 17th and counted with the presence of the Michelin-starred chef Andreas Caminada.
Once S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino 2014 gets underway on April 6th, the monthlong event will offer 11 stellar dinners (one of them a 'surprise' dinner), two captivating lounge nights and a special gourmet breakfast.
Themed Playing in our Backyard, the food festival will culminate on May 11th with a final party hosted by chef Domenico Ruberto at the Hotel Splendide Royal.
