For an incredible evening with a difference head to the ancient city of Paestum in Southern Italy for a unique dinner combining world-class chefs at one most important archaeological parks in the world on 30 July.
A line-up of illustrious chefs, including Massimo Bottura, Heinz Reitbauer and Sven Elverfeld and Franco Pepe will all be in Capania cooking in the one-off fundraising dinner at the stunning archaeological park of Paestum in the UNESCO heritage site.
The site boasts Greek and Roman temples and ruins, largely yet unescavated, the funds raised will go towards the archaeological excavation of the "Priest House" which is also fittingly the place where sacrificial banquets are thought to have been offered to the gods on behalf of the priests.
Massimo Bottura, fresh from his win at the World's 50 Best Restaurants with Osteria Francescana of Modena with 3 Michelin stars will be joined by Heinz Reitbauer, chef of the Steirereck restaurant in Vienna, 2 Michelin stars and fourteenth among the World's 50 Best Restaurants and Sven Elverfeld of Aqua at The Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg, 3 Michelin stars and among the best chefs in the world, again according to the 50 best.Franco Pepe, the world-renowned master pizza chef, first place in the ranking compiled by 50 Top Pizza completes the team.
The event is organised in collaboration with the Archeological Park of Paestum and the International Congress of Gourmet Cuisine LSDM whose organisers commented "We strongly believe ... that in a country such as Italy, the mixing of food and culture and their synergy are fundamental; and this event is proof of that. We hope that such initiatives are replicated elsewhere to promote and enhance the treasures of our land".
