Get ready all you cherry pickers out there! It's that time of year again when the sweet stone fruit takes centre stage at the annual Michigan Cherry Festival.
Attracting cherry fans from all over the world to Traverse City, Michigan, the weeklong celebrations also happily co-incide with July 4, turning it into a double excuse to party.
The event started life back in 1925 as a cherry blossom celebration and now close to racking up a century of celebrations this has turned into the seasoned festival of all things cherry.
Events and activities include a dazzling parade, a Cherry Queen contest, cherry pancake breakfast, air shows, cherry pit spitting contests, arts & crafts, sand sculpting competitions, film screenings, history lessons, cherry pie eating contests and much more.
Don't leave without a bite of the amazing cherry pies where the world record was set back in 1987 for the largest cherry pie ever baked!
So for want of better words.. eat, drink and be cherry!
