World's best chefs, competitions, debates and cooking femonstrations: it could only be Gastronomika, hosted every year in San Sebastián
How can any foodie decide whether to watch presentations by chefs like Paco Roncero or Dani Garcia, or listen to a culinary debate, or else attend a master class given by a sommelier? That’s the problem anyone who attends Gastronomika must face.
This year’s events included interesting speeches from great chefs like Andoni Luis Aduriz, Quique Dacosta, Joan and Jordi Roca, Grant Achatz, Heston Blumenthal, Alexandre Gauthier, Ignatius Chan and Magnus Nilsson, as well as from the pâtissiers Christian Escribà and Patricia Schmidt, and Latin American chefs.
Guests attending Gastronomika, which is held every November in San Sebastián, Spain, can always experience tastings of fine wines and cavas, jamons, pintxos and many exquisite artisan products and small dishes.
Competitions are held for the best parrilla, the best sommelier, and the best gin tonic (a cocktail that the Basques drink by the litre!).
There are lectures, debates, cooking demonstrations, and visits to restaurants and cultural destinations: all activities that make Bilbao and its surrounding areas into a gastronomic microcosm!
