The beautiful northern Italian city of Turin will once again host the biannual food congress known as Salone del Gusto and a world food conference called Terra Madre. The events are organized by the Slow Food organization and celebrate biodiversity, sustainable farming and food that is "good, clean and fair."

Salone del Gusto, the world's largest food and wine fair, will kick off on October 23rd with an opening ceremony held in Turin's Olympic Stadium. That's where culinary ambassadors from more than 100 countries will gather to represent the best foods their land has to offer.

The four-day event will literally be a feast for the senses with thousands of small-scale producers offering food samples, cooking demos, wine, beer and cheese tastings and much more. Visitors also have the opportunity of purchasing high-quality foods from the Salone del Gusto marketplace and enjoy authentic Italian food at the dining pavilion.

Delegates from around the world will meet at the Terra Madre food conference to discuss topics like food waste, animal welfare, climate change and world hunger. This year's lineup of speakers includes Teo Musso, founder of the Baladin artisanal brewery, W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Linda Jo Doctor, and Slow Food president Carlo Petrini. There will also be a live Skype conference with Samantha Cristoforetti, astronaut for the ESA European Space Agency.
