Le Bernardin is one of New York City's most acclaimed seafood restaurants. It has three Michelin stars and ranks 19th on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list. This would be the restaurant's first expansion and would increase private dining seating.
''We'll be able to seat up to 200. In the private rooms we have now, Les Salons, we can only accomodate 80. We refuse so many parties because we are so limited,'' Ripert told the New York Times.
The expansion will grant space for cooking demos and wine tastings. Part of the changes will include renaming the ground floor bar the Aldo Sohm Wine Bar in honor of the restaurant's sommelier. The bar will serve lunchtime special of a plat du jour with a glass of wine.
According to Ripert, the new private dining area will be called Le Bernardin Privé. There's no word yet on when the expansion will be complete but some sources say it could be early next year.
