The earthy red-brown hue was selected for it's ''full-bodied qualities'' and ''elegant, grounded'' characteristics. Marsala 18-1438 appeals to both men and woman and enhances living spaces, kitchens, small appliances and linens, according to Pantone.
"Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors," the company said.
The Pantone Color Institute has designated a color of the year since 2000. The company is honoring Marsala 18-1438 by putting together color pairings that enhance the richness of the shade.
