Ever wondered what happens to bourbon barrels after they've been used? Are they thrown away, recycled or just broken down and used for something else?
This infographic from the The Tasting Table looks at the life of barrels from the four biggest bourbon distilleries in the US and shows what happens to them after they've brewed the bourbon. Some are used for cherry, some for fish sauce and some even make it to Grant Achatz at his Alinea restaurant to be re-used as herb planters.
